If the tracks of the singer-songwriter listentojules had colors, their harmonies would be bright orange like a retro lounge chair of soft-seated corduroy, some guitar riffs fresh turquoise like the surface of the ocean, arrangements of sounds and horns would be golden, and Jules' voice shimmers above them like the wings of a dragonfly - a true "Kaleidoscope". So it's only too fitting that this is also the title of their new album, which will be released on Jazzhaus Records on June 30, 2023.
The new Single "Movin' On" will be released on February 24th and delivers after "Your Eyes" another promising foretaste of the upcoming album. listentojules is laid-back, groovy indie soul that makes you want move along, recorded on vintage instruments from the 1960s - no midi, everything analog, everything organic. This earthy, natural sound also fits Jules' love of nature, who made her entire album production as ecologically sustainable as possible. The song speaks of carrying on even through the fog of fear, but still manages to radiate a warm sense of safety when you listen to it. listentojules sings about the inner process of not letting yourself get dragged down, no matter what thoughts are chasing you: "I want and need to keep going, no matter what." The song formed her personal turning point and helped her face a situation with confidence and return to the creative flow.
Inspired by a social media challenge from musician Jordan Rakei, the song arose from a late-night challenge. Rakei provided beats and challenged people to create songs to go with them in the shortest amount of time. Jules finds out about it on her way to bed - the deadline: the next morning. By the time the sun rises, the song is written, filmed and posted on Instagram.
