about
"Searchin'" by listentojules reflects the pain and isolation felt in a world plagued by crises. The song encourages listeners to search within themselves and their surroundings to better understand. With a hint of R&B influence, the soulful tune is the third single from listentojules' upcoming album "Kaleidoscope", which showcases the artist's indie-soul sound recorded on vintage instruments. The album's central theme is sustainability, which is also reflected in the production. Featuring a spoken word performance by Joy Bogat, the track questions the distancing to oneself and others from the world and encourages listeners to move towards a more conscious and peaceful future all together. "Kaleidoscope" will be released on June 30th, 2023, on Jazzhaus Records.
lyrics
SEARCHIN' (for Pain / Reconnecting with life)
bone where, muscle where, vein where are you?
toe where, knee where, skin where, tell me where are you?
lungs where, womb where, heartbeat where are you?
i don't feel me, I don't feel you
i can't feel my needs, resources are used up
i don't feel me, but I don't blame you
others feel it too, we are lost in our thoughts
sun where, tree where, earth where are you?
time where, rain where, air where tell me where are you?
light where are you and where am where am i?
i don't feel me, i don't feel you
i can't feel my needs, resources are used up
i don't feel me, but i don't blame you
others feel it, too. we are lost in our thoughts
i don't feel me, i don't feel you
i can't feel my needs, resources are used up
i don't feel me, but i don't blame you
they don't feel it too. we are losing our minds
brains have been aching, thoughts have been cruel,
pain (blood) has painted bodies breaking but will never rule
my world
Joy Bogat:
listen to me. don’t - listen
see i can’t tell you what to do
but what i do feel is that we need room
for all the wounds to heal, our stories to cry into the nights
i wanna look my pain straight in the eye
say here’s your wings, i’m willing to let you go,
i’m willing to let you fly off to the next tree that will carry
you don’t need to have capacity for all there is.
sometimes there’s strength in surrendering.
in giving in. you know there’s power in being softer.
